KC Ice Center

KC Ice Center is an open-air rink that Kansas City skaters of all levels will adore this winter. The rink offers public ice skate time throughout the week. If you want to grow your skills, you can sign up for lessons and classes. They also offer adult drop-in hockey and adult skate coffee clubs. 

Kansas City Zoo

6800 Zoo Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64132

The Kansas City Zoo has events all year long, so you can check in on your favorite animals even in winter. You can attend the Penguin March every week and watch the birds as they strut to their habitat. If you need an indoor space, try out the aquarium, where you can see over 8,000 animals.

Visit The Ice at Park Place

The Ice at Park Place is an outdoor ice rink open from November to March with extra fun family things to do in Kansas City in the winter. While the rink is open every day of the week, they regularly host exciting events the entire family will love. Put on some of your best neon pink for Barbie and Ken’s skate night, or bring your kiddos to skate with Anna, Elsa, and Olaf from Frozen. 

Snow Creek

Snow Creek is a ski resort with 13 trails. The mountain has over 1,100 feet of elevation and gives you options for every level. You can take a ride on a lift, ski over the 25 acres, or tube down the mountain. They offer additional activities, including scavenger hunts and campfires.

Chicken N Pickle

If you’re looking for the best way to get in on the pickleball craze, head on over to Chicken N Pickle. The Kansas City complex offers both indoor and outdoor areas where you can brush up on your skills this winter and enjoy some pretty tasty food. On top of pickleball, the center offers cornhole, shuffleboard, and ping pong. Chicken N Pickle welcomes players of all ages. 

Holiday Light and Magic

600 N 126th St., Bonner Springs, Kansas 66012

Over the winter holidays, head out of Kansas City and over to Bonner Springs for the Holiday Light and Magic. From early November through New Year’s Eve, you can drive through the park and see spectacular light displays. Add in some specialty popcorn and LED glasses so you can ride in style.
