4 Things To Do In Overland Park to Discover the Local Community
The Overland Park Farmers Market is the perfect place to experience our community pride and spirit while celebrating the salt-of-the-earth people who keep Overland Park thriving. Vendors have provided farm-to-table food here for over 40 years, and the market only continues growing. You can find locally grown and made products like fresh produce, unique condiments and sauces, dairy and eggs, flowers, honey, meat, seafood, and plenty of baked goods.
In 2022, the market expanded, allowing vendors more space between stalls, better parking for patrons, and even nearby restrooms for comfort and convenience. Whether you have visited before or are shopping at the market for the first time, you’ll take pride in supporting local farmers and businesses while investing in our community.
Strang Hall has become quite an Overland Park staple. Located in the heart of downtown, Strang Hall is a collection of six unique restaurants that feature delicious cuisines worldwide, like pizza, sushi, tacos, and so much more. Each restaurant is spearheaded by some of Overland Park’s top chefs. Hence, you may want to spend an afternoon sampling a different dish from each spot.
Their Happy Hours feature handmade cocktails, beers, and wine and are perfect for a date night or just getting away with friends or family after a long day of work. On beautiful days, the Strang Hall lawn is perfect for spreading out and picnicking while you enjoy the gorgeous weather. Check out their calendar for special events like wine tastings and football watch parties, or just drop in for a cup of coffee and a snack!
Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens
Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens cover over 300 acres of land and feature more than 1,700 species of plants. Nearly six miles of paved and wood chip hiking trails guide you through the park, some of which cross Wolf Creek with large, beautiful bridges. Suppose hiking on your own isn’t your style. In that case, you can participate in one of the Arboretum’s guided tours that will take you through the various gardens and landscapes.
The Children’s Discovery Garden provides young explorers with plenty of sensory opportunities to learn and play. Various sculptures give grown-ups a chance to appreciate compelling artwork throughout the property. If you need to get a little fresh air, the Overland Arboretum and Botanical Gardens may be the perfect spot for you.
